CULTURAL PROGRAM :


The First Convocation of Takshashila University began with a vibrant cultural programme. The
event opened with a mesmerizing Veena performance by Smt. Puniya Srinivas, Veena Legend
and Carnatic Music Trailblazer, whose soulful Carnatic music added grace and brilliance to the
ceremony. This was followed by a beautiful cultural dance sequence by Team Sakhyam, who
presented a 30-minute showcase featuring: Bharatanatyam, Lavani, Kuchipudi,
Mohiniyattam, Odissi, Kathak, Bhangra, and a grand Jugalbandhi Finale.

INAGURATION OF SPORTS COMPLEX :

“The Sports Complex at Takshashila University was inaugurated by Smt. P. T. Usha,
President of the Indian Olympic Association and renowned as the ‘Queen of Indian Track
and Field’. Her visit created a remarkable and memorable moment for the University
community. The inauguration not only highlighted the institution’s commitment to promoting
sports but also greatly motivated students, encouraging them to participate actively and pursue
excellence in various sporting disciplines.”
COMMENCEMENT OF CONVOCATION PROCESSION :

The Convocation Procession commenced with the Controller of Examinations, followed by the
Registrar. They were succeeded by the Members of the Academic Council (Deans), who were
then followed by the Members of the Executive Council, including the Dean–Academic
Affairs (Dean AA) and the Dean–Ranking and Accreditation (Dean RA). The procession
then continued with the Members of the Governing Council, followed by the Deans of the
various Faculties. After them, the Vice-Chancellor proceeded, followed by the ProChancellors, and subsequently the Honorary Pro-Chancellor.
Thereafter, the Chancellor entered, followed by the other nominated guests, the Special
Guest, and finally the Chief Guest, marking the dignified completion of the ceremonial
procession into the Convocation Hall.
INVOCATION – TAMIZH THAI VAZHTHU :


The invocation commenced with the soulful rendition of the Tamil Thaai Vazhthu, setting a
serene and auspicious tone for the ceremony. This was followed by the traditional Lighting of
the Lamp, symbolizing the dispelling of darkness and the ushering in of knowledge, wisdom, and
prosperity. The dignitaries jointly lit the lamp, marking the cultural and spiritual beginning of the
Convocation Ceremony.
WELCOME ADDRESS :

Welcome Address was delivered by Prof. Dr. S. Senthil, Registrar, Takshashila University. In his
address, he warmly honoured and welcomed the Chief Guest, Ms. Leymah R. Gbowee, Nobel Peace
Laureate, and the Special Guests, Mr. Jagannath Sami, High Commissioner of the Republic of Fiji to
India, Smt. T. Usha, President of the Indian Olympic Association and the Queen of Indian Track & Field,
and Mr. Jayamohan, renowned writer and author.He also extended his respectful welcome to the
Chancellor, Shri M. Dhanasekaran, Chancellor of Takshashila University and Chairman of the Sri
Manakula Vinayagar and Mailam Group of Institutions; the esteemed Pro-Chancellor, Dr. D. Nila
Priyadharshini; Shri D. Rajarajan, Treasurer of SMVET and Pro-Chancellor of Takshashila University;
the distinguished Pro-Chancellor, Dr. J. Ranganathan; and Prof. Dr. Vivek Inder Kochhar, ViceChancellor, Takshashila University.
He further welcomed all the Deans of Takshashila University, the Controller of Examinations, the
Directors, Principals, and Heads of Institutions from Mailam Engineering College and the Sri Manakula
Vinayagar Group of Institutions. A warm welcome was also extended to the members of the press and
media, the valued parents, the beloved faculty and staff members, and, most importantly, the graduating
students.
HONOURING THE GUEST :

The Chief Guest, Ms. Leymah R. Gbowee, Nobel Peace Laureate, was accorded special honour with the
rendition of the Liberian National Anthem. This was followed by the honouring of the Special Guest, Mr.
Jagannath Sami, High Commissioner of the Republic of Fiji to India, with the Fijian National Anthem.

In addition, Smt. T. Usha, President of the Indian Olympic Association and the Queen of Indian Track &
Field; Mr. Jayamohan, renowned writer and author; along with the Honourable Chancellor, the ProChancellors, the Vice-Chancellor, the Registrar, the Members of the Governing Council, and the
Controller of Examinations were also respectfully honoured as part of the ceremonial proceedings.
SANCTION TO COMMENCE PROCEEDINGS:

The Registrar respectfully sought the gracious sanction of the Hon’ble Chancellor to commence the
Convocation proceedings and to confer the Undergraduate and Postgraduate degrees. With the
Chancellor’s approval, the Convocation was formally declared open.”
ANNUAL REPORT OF TAKSHASHILA UNIVERSITY:

The Annual Report was delivered by Prof. Dr. Vivek Inder Kochhar, Vice-Chancellor, Takshashila
University. He began by thanking the Almighty for the blessings of this remarkable Convocation Day
and expressed his gratitude to the Hon’ble Chancellor. He also extended a warm welcome to the ProChancellors, the Chief Guest, and the Special Chief Guest. He remarked that “a convocation is not merely
a ceremony, but a milestone that marks the beginning of a lasting legacy passed across generations.”
Reflecting on the University’s progress, he noted that since its establishment in 2022, Takshashila
University has grown with a vision of creating future leaders—an institution “where Tradition meets
Technology and Values meet Vision,” empowering every student to reach their full potential. The
University has now expanded into a vibrant community of over 4,600 students, enriched by cultural
celebrations such as Onam, Pongal, and Takshak, as well as academic events including National AI Day,
workshops, and seminars. With 11 student clubs and 8 houses, the University continues to foster
creativity, leadership, and holistic development.
He highlighted that 4,033 students contributed to sports and social initiatives, with many achieving
national-level sports recognition. He also emphasized the University’s commitment to educational access,
noting that 2,567 students—over 56%—received scholarships in the past three years. In conclusion, he
congratulated all graduates and wished them great success in their future .
HONOURING DEGREE FOR P.T USHA :

The citation honouring P. T. Usha was eloquently presented by Prof. Dr. Vivek Inder Kochhar,
Vice-Chancellor of Takshashila University. Upon the conclusion of the citation, the ViceChancellor respectfully invited the Hon’ble Chancellor to graciously confer the distinguished
honorary degree. Acceding to the request, the Hon’ble Chancellor conferred upon P. T. Usha the
esteemed Degree of Doctor of Letters (Honoris Causa).
SPECIAL ADDRESS

The Special Address was delivered by P. T. Usha, President of the Indian Olympic
Association and the “Queen of Indian Track and Field.” She began by expressing her
heartfelt gratitude to Takshashila University for conferring upon her the Doctor of Letters
(Honoris Causa), an honour that she described as a recognition she accepts with great humility.
She reflected on her journey, recalling a young girl running on a single-track lane in Kerala, and
dedicated this honour to all young athletes representing India.
As a Member of Parliament, she highlighted that India is making remarkable progress in
infrastructure, sports, and education. She emphasized that the nation is steadily emerging on the
global sports stage, and appreciated Takshashila University for its significant role in
strengthening education and shaping responsible youth.
During her address, she remarked, “Success is not defined by medals and titles; it is defined by
hard work and consistency.” She added that this honour brings pride to her athletic journey and
to the sporting fraternity of India. She concluded her inspiring address by extending her best
wishes to all graduates for a bright and successful future.
HONOURING DEGREE FOR MR. JAYAMOHAN

The citation honouring Mr. Jayamohan, renowned writer and author was eloquently
presented by Prof. Dr. Vivek Inder Kochhar, Vice-Chancellor of Takshashila University. Upon
the conclusion of the citation, the Vice-Chancellor respectfully invited the Hon’ble Chancellor to
graciously confer the distinguished honorary degree. Acceding to the request, the Hon’ble
Chancellor conferred upon Mr. Jayamohan, the esteemed Degree of Doctor of Literature

SPECIAL ADDRESS

The Special Address was delivered by Mr. Jayamohan, renowned writer and author. He
expressed his deep gratitude for being conferred this honorary degree, acknowledging it as a
recognition not only of his work but also of his service to Tamil literature. He dedicated the
honour to Tamil literature, noting that modern Tamil literature has often been overlooked by
many institutions. He appreciated Takshashila University for being the first institution to
meaningfully recognize and honour modern Tamil literary contributions.
He added that an organization was established to celebrate Tamil literature and to honour its
pioneers, with ongoing global campaigns to promote it. He expressed hope that this initiative
would inspire more institutions to value and acknowledge modern Tamil literature. He concluded
by once again thanking the University for the honour bestowed upon him.
PRESENTING THE GRADUANDS

The Dean, Faculty of Science, Dr. S. Deepa, presented the undergraduate degree certificates to
the graduands, and the Dean, Faculty of Management and Commerce, Dr. Suphalakshmi,
presented the degree certificates to the graduands. These presentations were carried out in
accordance with the proceedings and with the approval of the Vice-Chancellor of Takshashila
University.
STATISTICAL REPORT :

The Statistical Report was presented by Prof. Dr. S. Senthil, Registrar of Takshashila
University. He reported that a total of 153 students from the 2022 and 2023 batches are
receiving their degrees, of whom 142 are receiving them in person and 11 in absentia.
BLESSING ADDRESS

The Blessing Address was delivered by Dr. Nila Priyadharshini, Pro-Chancellor of
Takshashila University. She began by expressing her happiness at seeing the distinguished
leaders present on the stage.
In her address, she highlighted key messages for the graduating students. She emphasized that
students must take responsibility, as true change begins only when individuals step forward
with commitment. She noted that every successful leader once started as a beginner—they did
not wait for applause but took small responsibilities seriously and grew through them.
Dr. Nila Priyadharshini further highlighted that:
>>“A leader is not defined by their position; a leader is defined by their behaviour.”
>>“Life doesn’t demand a perfect plan; it only demands a brave first step.”
She encouraged the graduates to face life with courage, embrace responsibilities, and evolve into
strong leaders. She concluded her address by congratulating all the graduates and reminding
them that the world is waiting for their stories .

The session continued with the Blessing Address delivered by Shri D. Rajarajan, Treasurer of
SMVET and Pro-Chancellor of Takshashila University. In his address, he remarked that every
generation is presented with a defining moment to transform its trajectory, and for the
graduating cohort, this moment has now arrived.
Shri D. Rajarajan imparted three key messages to the graduates:
- Ownership Creates Opportunities – He emphasized that personal and professional
progress begins with taking full responsibility for one’s own life, decisions, and actions. - Use the Tools of Tomorrow – Highlighting the transformative impact of emerging
technologies, he encouraged students to adopt and utilize AI and other advanced tools to
stay ahead in a rapidly evolving world. - Small Habits Build Big Futures – He underscored the power of consistency, stating that
disciplined habits consistently outweigh talent, and urged the graduates to remain
steadfast in their efforts for long-term success.
He further noted that courage is essential to move confidently into the next phase of life.
Concluding his address, he urged the graduates to “Create a life that you are proud of,” and
extended his warm congratulations to all members of the graduating class.
PRESIDENTIAL ADDRESS :

The Presidential Address was delivered by Shri M. Dhanasekaran, Chancellor of Takshashila
University and Chairman of the Sri Manakula Vinayagar and Mailam Group of Institutions. He
began by stating that the day marked a historic moment for Takshashila University as it
celebrated its First Convocation, a significant milestone graced by distinguished personalities
on the dais.
He highlighted the University’s tagline, “Creating the Leaders of Tomorrow,” and encouraged
the graduates to learn from the eminent leaders present. He reminded them that real education
begins today, urging them to learn continuously, set bold goals, write them down, and work
systematically to achieve them. He emphasized that, “When your intention is pure and your
path is right, the universe will support you.”
Reinforcing the importance of daily discipline and lifelong learning for career growth, he
concluded by reminding the graduates to always honour their parents, saying, “Never forget
your father and mother until your last breath.”
SPECIAL ADDRESS :

The Special Address was delivered by Mr. Jagannath Sami, High Commissioner of the
Republic of Fiji to India. He commenced his address by noting that the people of Fiji are
known for their warm disposition and ever-present smiles, a reflection of their resilience and
optimism. He remarked that those who persevere through challenges and hardships are the
ones who ultimately attain success.
Mr. Sami emphasized that the true measure of success lies not in personal achievements, but
in the contributions one makes to the community. Referencing global leaders such as Nelson
Mandela and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., he highlighted that these influential figures faced
immense challenges yet devoted their lives to the betterment of society.
He further spoke about Fiji and underscored the significance of holistic well-being, stating that
good health and a positive spirit reinforce the idea that education serves as the foundation for
national development. He observed that a well-educated population is essential for societal
progress, and without education, it becomes difficult for any nation to advance meaningfully.
He concluded his address by affirming that “Education is humanity’s greatest investment.”
CONVOCATION ADDRESS

The Convocation address is delivered by , Ms. Leymah R. Gbowee, Nobel Peace Laureate
thanked the dignitaries and spoke about the value of ethics with a quote related to Takshashila
University. She said that our world is messy and upside down, and therefore integrity and
honesty are essential. She emphasized that we need many young people to help turn the world
upright again. She appreciated that the university focuses on ethical leadership and added that the
course the students are studying is something the world needs today. She stressed the importance
of sustainable development and encouraged everyone to join together and use their intellectual
abilities for the betterment of society. She told the youngsters that every challenge in life is
actually an opportunity to become the best version of themselves. They should not allow
challenges to become stopping points. She concluded by encouraging everyone to do good for
their community
VOTE OF THANKS:

The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr. Gopalakannan, Controller of Examinations,
Takshashila University. He stated that it was his privilege to propose the Vote of Thanks on
this landmark First Convocation of Takshashila University. He extended his deepest gratitude to
the Chief Guest, Ms. Leymah R. Gbowee, Nobel Peace Laureate, for her inspiring presence. He
expressed that the University was honoured by the presence of Dr. P. T. Usha, President of the
Indian Olympic Association, whose achievements continue to inspire the youth. He conveyed
heartfelt thanks to Shri Dr. Jeyamohan for his meaningful contribution to the occasion.
He also expressed sincere gratitude to the Chancellor Mr. M. Dhanasekaran, the ProChancellors, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Vivek Inder Kochhar, the Registrar Prof. Dr. S.
Senthil, the Deans, faculty, and staff for their dedicated efforts. He especially thanked the
organizing committee, volunteers, and technical teams for their meticulous work in making the
First Convocation a great success.
