Anemia Program

Takshashila University, through its School of Allied Health Sciences, conducted an Anemia Awareness Program on 22 January 2026 at Dharamshand Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Tindivanam, as part of its ongoing commitment to health education and preventive healthcare. The program was designed to raise awareness about anemia by educating students on its causes, symptoms, health implications, and effective preventive measures. The session also highlighted the importance of healthy lifestyle choices and balanced nutrition, motivating students to adopt habits that contribute to long-term health and overall well-being.

HEALTH AWARNESS GOALS :

The primary goal of the awareness program was to educate school students on the importance of maintaining healthy hemoglobin levels through balanced nutrition and informed lifestyle choices. The session highlighted the significance of early identification and prevention of anemia, emphasizing its impact on physical health, cognitive performance, academic learning, and overall growth and development.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE AWARNESS SESSION :

During the Anemia Awarness program, faculty members explained:

  • Explained the common causes of anemia, especially nutritional deficiencies
  • Discussed early signs and symptoms for timely identification
  • Highlighted the importance of iron-rich foods and balanced diet
  • Shared preventive measures to avoid anemia
  • Created awareness on the effects of anemia on health and learning .

The session was informative and tailored to help students understand anemia in a simple and practical manner.

PARTICIPATION AND OUTREACH :

The Anemia Awareness Program received an encouraging response, with active participation from nearly three staff members and a total of 91 school students. Among the participants, 46 students were from the 9th standard and 45 students from the 11th standard. The session included interactive discussions and question-and-answer segments, which provided students with the opportunity to clarify their doubts and engage meaningfully with the topic. This active involvement contributed to better understanding and awareness of anemia and its prevention.

EFFECTIVENESS OF THE AWARNESS PROGRAM :

The Anemia Awareness Program proved to be highly effective in enhancing students’ understanding of anemia and its significance for overall health. Through clear explanations and interactive discussions, students gained practical knowledge about the causes, symptoms, and prevention of anemia. The program successfully encouraged students to recognize the importance of proper nutrition, healthy lifestyle habits, and early identification of health concerns. Overall, the initiative contributed positively to improving health awareness among students and reinforced the value of preventive healthcare education.

CONCLUSION :

The Anemia Awareness Program organized by the School of Allied Health Sciences reflects Takshashila University’s strong commitment to community health education and preventive care. The initiative successfully empowered students with essential knowledge on anemia, encouraging healthier lifestyle and nutritional practices. Such programs play a vital role in building health awareness, promoting responsible habits, and nurturing a healthier, informed future generation.
