Tindivanam Town, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The program, now including B.Sc. Nursing, focuses on promoting healthy dietary habits through awareness and live demonstrations of millet-based recipes. This initiative aligns well with nursing students’ roles in health promotion and disease prevention.
PROMOTING HEALTHY LIVING THROUGH MILLETES :
In recent years, unhealthy dietary habits and increased consumption of refined foods have
contributed significantly to lifestyle-related disorders such as diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular
diseases, and nutritional deficiencies. Recognizing the need to address this growing concern, the
School of Pharmacy designed this program to promote healthy, affordable, and locally
available food choices, with special emphasis on millets.
Millets are traditional grains rich in dietary fibre, essential minerals, vitamins, and bioactive
compounds. Despite their nutritional superiority, their usage has gradually declined. This
initiative aimed to revive awareness about millets and encourage their inclusion in daily diets.
