INTRODUCTION :

Heart Failure Awareness Week-3

The School of Allied Health Sciences, Takshashila University, successfully organized a Heart Failure Awareness Week on 10 February 2026 at Government Higher Secondary School, Kajanur, as part of the observance of Heart Failure Awareness Week.

The initiative aimed to educate school students and the local community on the importance of early diagnosis, preventive healthcare practices, and lifestyle modifications to reduce the risk of heart failure and other cardiovascular diseases

OBJECTIVE OF THE PROGRAM :

The primary objective of the program was to create awareness about:

  • Understanding heart failure and its causes
  • Recognizing early signs and symptoms
  • Identifying major risk factors
  • Adopting heart-healthy lifestyle habits
  • Importance of regular health check-ups

The awareness session was designed to provide age-appropriate, practical knowledge to empower students to make informed health decisions from an early stage of life.

INTERACTIVE LEARNING THROUGH VIDEO -ASSISTED TEACHING :

To enhance understanding and engagement, video-assisted teaching methods were incorporated into the session. Visual presentations and educational videos helped students clearly comprehend:

  • How the heart functions
  • What happens during heart failure
  • Warning signs that should not be ignored
  • Preventive measures to maintain heart health . The interactive format encouraged active participation, allowing students to ask questions and clarify their doubts.

KEY PREVENTIVE MEASURES HIGHLIGHTED

The program emphasized simple yet effective preventive measures, including:

  • Maintaining a balanced and nutritious diet
  • Engaging in regular physical activity
  • Avoiding tobacco and harmful substances
  • Managing stress effectively
  • Monitoring blood pressure and blood sugar levels

Students were encouraged to share the knowledge gained with their families, thereby extending the impact of the awareness initiative beyond the classroom.

CONCLUSION :

The Heart Failure Awareness Program at Government Higher Secondary School, Kajanur, was successfully conducted with enthusiastic participation from students and faculty. The initiative not only strengthened community health awareness but also provided Allied Health Sciences students with valuable exposure to community-based health education.
