Introduction :

The School of Nursing, Takshashila University, successfully organized a School Health Camp on 12 February 2026 at St. Francis Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Saram. The initiative was conducted with the objective of promoting preventive healthcare, early diagnosis, and the overall well- being of high school and higher secondary students. The camp commenced at 10:00 AM under the guidance of Ms. Aswini, Assistant Professor, representing the School of Nursing. The program was carefully designed to provide accessible, systematic, and comprehensive medical screening services to students within the school premises.

The primary Focus of the health camp was to:
- Conduct general health screening for school students
- Identify vision and dental problems at an early stage
- Promote awareness about personal hygiene and preventive care
- Provide timely referrals for further medical evaluation
Such school-based health programs play a vital role in strengthening community health and ensuring early intervention.

A dedicated medical team from Takshashila conducted comprehensive health assessments, including:
- Height and Weight measurement
- Vital signs monitoring
- Vision screening
- ENT examination
- Dental check-up
A total of 223 students from Classes IX to XII (IX – 67 students, X – 33 students, XI – 54 students, XII – 69 students) and 11 staff members actively participated in the health camp.
During the screening:
- 47 students were identified with vision-related issues
- 38 students were found to have dental concerns
These screenings were aimed at detecting common health issues at an early stage, ensuring timely medical attention and appropriate follow-up care.

The School Health Camp significantly contributed to early detection of common health issues among adolescents. Vision and dental problems, if left untreated, can affect academic performance and overall development. Through timely identification and referral, the program ensured appropriate follow-up care.
Such outreach initiatives provide nursing students with valuable exposure to community-based healthcare services while reinforcing Takshashila University’s commitment to preventive health, public health awareness, and student well-being.
