Introduction:
Takshashila University celebrated Vinayagar Chathurthi with great devotion this year. The celebrations commenced on September 10, uniting the campus community in a vibrant display of devotion, tradition and togetherness.

The Seed Ganapathy Initiative — Tradition Meets Sustainability:
A highlight of this year’s celebrations was the Seed Ganapathy activity. As part of this initiative, 60 Seed Ganapathy idols were made on the day of the celebration, with seeds embedded in them, so that after the celebration, they could be nurtured to grow into plants, a symbol of new life, echoing Lord Vinayagar’s own association with growth and new beginnings.
The initiative encouraged students to understand that festivals can be celebrated joyfully while being environmentally responsible, inspiring greener practices for the future.
Vinayagar Chathurthi Celebration at Takshashila University:

Following the Seed Ganapathy activity, a separate Vinayagar statue was installed, which served as the centrepiece of this year’s celebrations. The first-day pooja was inaugurated by the university administration in the presence of Honourable Pro-Chancellor Dr. D. Nila Priyadharshini and Honourable Registrar Dr. S. Senthil, whose participation marked the beginning of the devotional celebrations with prayers and blessings for the university community. As a gesture of inclusion and gratitude, the Seed Ganapathy idols were gifted to the non-teaching staff of Takshashila University, extending the spirit of the festival to every member of the university community. As part of the celebrations, prasadham was distributed to students, teaching and non-teaching staff, bringing together the entire university community in a joyful, shared moment.
Following the inaugural pooja, every school at Takshashila University continued the daily pooja, with students and faculty offering prayers for wisdom, success and prosperity. The celebrations created a peaceful atmosphere on campus throughout the festival.
Wisdom, New Beginnings and Cultural Connection:

Lord Vinayagar’s blessings are traditionally sought before new ventures, making the festival especially meaningful in an educational setting. For students, the celebration was a reminder to pursue knowledge with dedication, face challenges with confidence, and approach goals with a positive mindset.
The festival also gave students a chance to connect with India’s rich cultural heritage, experiencing traditions passed down through generations and understanding the bridge between education, culture and values.
Bringing the Community Together:
Beyond the rituals, the celebrations created space for students, faculty and staff to connect outside the regular academic routine. Shared prayers and moments of celebration fostered teamwork and mutual respect, turning the campus into more than a place of learning, a community bound by culture, faith and togetherness.
Conclusion:
The Vinayagar Chathurthi celebration at Takshashila University brought together faith, wisdom and sustainability. From the daily pooja held across every school to the innovative Seed Ganapathy activity, the celebration was memorable and meaningful.
As Lord Vinayagar’s blessings continue to inspire wisdom in learning, strength to overcome challenges, and positivity in every new beginning, Takshashila University’s Vinayagar Chathurthi celebrations concluded in a spirit of devotion, unity and gratitude.
