Introduction:
Takshashila University organized the Inter-House Floodlight Cricket – Turf Cricket Competition 2026 on 26 September 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the University Turf, exclusively for hostel students. For the first time, this cricket competition was held at night, giving players an exciting stage to showcase their skills and play as a team.
Key Objective of the Competition:
The competition was conducted under the Khelo initiative to promote sports participation among hostel students. It fostered teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship, and created a platform for students from diverse backgrounds to interact and build friendships.
A Night of Cricket, Teamwork and Enthusiasm:
Under the glow of the floodlight, the University Turf came alive as hostel students gathered for an evening of cricket. Playing at night gave the matches a distinct atmosphere, with players proudly representing their houses and supporters cheering them on from the boundary. Six teams took part in the Interhouse Floodlight Cricket – Turf Cricket Competition 2026, drawn from the university’s six Khelo houses. Each team played proudly under its house colours, making the competition a strong platform for hostel students to show their cricketing skills.

The matches were closely fought, with each team relying on clear communication and well-defined roles in batting, bowling and fielding. Teams adapted their tactics as the games progressed, and a single over could change the momentum in an instant. Through it all, teammates backed one another with encouragement, keeping the contests competitive but friendly.
The Champions:
Team Mary Kom emerged as the champions of the Interhouse Floodlight Cricket – Turf Cricket Competition 2026, while Team P. V. Sindhu finished as the runners-up. Both teams showed determination and consistency throughout the tournament, and the efforts of every participating team made the night a success.
Outcome of the Competition:
