The School of Nursing, Takshashila University, observed World Population Day 2026 by organizing a Population Awareness Rally on July 10, 2026, at Olakkur Village. The initiative aimed to educate the community on responsible population growth, family planning, reproductive health, and sustainable development. Through active public engagement and health education, the rally reflected the University’s commitment to preventive healthcare, community outreach, and the promotion of public health awareness.

Key Objectives of the Initiative:

The awareness rally was organized to promote responsible population practices while fostering community health awareness. The initiative focused on:

  • Raising awareness of responsible population growth and sustainable development.
  • Promoting family planning and reproductive health education.
  • Encouraging maternal and child healthcare for healthier communities.
  • Inspiring informed healthcare decisions and responsible parenthood.
  • Providing nursing students with practical community engagement and public health learning experiences.

Community Outreach and Public Engagement :

A Total of 150 First and Second Year B.Sc. Nursing students participated in the Population Awareness Rally organized at Olakkur Village as part of the World Population Day 2026 observance. Through educational placards and direct community engagement, the students raised awareness on responsible population growth, family planning, reproductive health, maternal and child health, and sustainable development.

The initiative served as an effective platform for promoting public health awareness, encouraging informed community participation, and reinforcing the importance of collective responsibility in building healthier and more sustainable communities.

Professional Skill Development Through Community Outreach :

The Population Awareness Rally provided B.Sc. Nursing students with valuable hands-on experience in community outreach and public health education. Through active community engagement, students enhanced their communication, leadership, teamwork, and health promotion skills while strengthening their understanding of population health, family planning, reproductive health, and preventive healthcare.
