Introduction:
Takshashila University celebrated the Induction Day Celebration 2026 for the newly admitted students of the Faculty of Sciences, Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences, and Faculty of Management & Commerce on 29 July 2026 at the Multipurpose Hall, Takshashila University, Tindivanam. The programme was graced by Honourable Chancellor Shri M. Dhanasekaran, Honourable Pro-Chancellors Shri D. Rajarajan and Dr. D. Nila Priyadharshini, Honourable Vice-Chancellor Dr. Vivek Inder Kochhar, Honourable Registrar Dr. S. Senthil and Chief Guest Shri R. Thirukumaran, Talent Attraction Leader – R&D & Brand Advocate, Nokia, along with distinguished academicians, faculty members, parents, and newly admitted students. The event featured a series of inspiring addresses that encouraged the freshers to embrace lifelong learning, develop future-ready skills, and embark on a purposeful academic journey, reflecting Takshashila University’s commitment to nurturing the leaders of tomorrow.
Cultural Inauguration and Ceremonial Lamp Lighting:

The Induction Day Celebration commenced with a graceful classical dance performance by Takshashila University students, showcasing India’s rich cultural heritage and setting an auspicious tone for the event. This was followed by the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries, symbolising the pursuit of knowledge, wisdom, and new beginnings, while formally inaugurating the celebrations and reaffirming the University’s commitment to academic excellence.
Felicitation Address:

The Felicitation Address was delivered by Honourable Dr. S. Senthil, Registrar, Takshashila University, who welcomed the Honourable Chancellor, Pro-Chancellors, Vice-Chancellor, Chief Guest, Deans, faculty members, parents, and newly admitted students. In his address, he encouraged students to regard 29 July 2026 as the beginning of a transformative academic journey, inspiring them to dream big, remain determined, and view education as the key to success. He highlighted the University’s four career pathways, Government Services, Corporate Careers, Teaching & Research, and Entrepreneurship, and its strategic collaborations supporting competitive examinations, placements, and innovation. He concluded by wishing students a successful, purposeful, and rewarding academic journey at Takshashila University.

Following this, the Felicitation Address was delivered by Honourable Dr. Vivek Inder Kochhar, Vice-Chancellor, Takshashila University, who welcomed the dignitaries, Chief Guest, faculty members, parents, and newly admitted students on the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima. He encouraged students to embrace their university journey as an opportunity for learning, growth, and self-discovery. Emphasizing that education extends beyond academics, he inspired students to actively participate in sports, cultural events, clubs, and co-curricular activities to develop leadership, communication, and life skills. He concluded by motivating students to strive for excellence, become the “Leaders of Tomorrow,” and make the most of their academic journey at Takshashila University.
Special Address:

The Special Address was delivered by Honourable Pro-Chancellor Shri D. Rajarajan, who extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest and encouraged the newly admitted students to embrace opportunities, cultivate adaptability, and make informed career decisions in an ever-evolving global landscape. Emphasising the importance of critical thinking, interdisciplinary collaboration, and future-ready competencies, he advised students to verify the authenticity of information, engage in collaborative problem-solving, and pursue career pathways that address emerging challenges and opportunities. He concluded by inspiring the students to uphold these guiding principles, strive for excellence, and make meaningful contributions throughout their academic journey at Takshashila University.

Following this, the Special Address was delivered by Honourable Pro-Chancellor Dr. D. Nila Priyadharshini, who warmly welcomed the Chief Guest, dignitaries, faculty members, parents, and the newly admitted students. Congratulating the freshers on embarking upon a significant milestone in their higher education journey, she encouraged them to make their university experience purposeful and enriching. Highlighting “Learn, Connect, and Adapt” as the three pillars of a successful university life, she inspired students to embrace lifelong learning, build meaningful relationships, and develop the adaptability required to thrive in a dynamic world. She concluded by encouraging students to take hold of every opportunity with dedication, pursue their aspirations with confidence, and emerge as competent, responsible, and future-ready professionals.
Chief guest Introduction:
The Chief Guest was formally introduced by Mr. Ilayaraja, School In-charge of Commerce, who highlighted Shri R. Thirukumaran’s distinguished career as a Human Resources leader with expertise in talent acquisition, employer branding, and people strategy. He noted that Shri R. Thirukumaran currently serves as Talent Attraction Leader and Brand Advocate at Nokia and has held leadership positions at Ericsson, Wipro, RuralShores, and Shriram City Union Finance. He also highlighted his recognition as one of India’s Top 20 HR Influencers and his contribution to youth employability through over 250 guest lectures. He concluded by warmly welcoming the Chief Guest and expressing confidence that his address would inspire the students.
Keynote Address by the Chief Guest:

The Chief Guest Address was delivered by Shri R. Thirukumaran, Talent Attraction Leader – R&D & Brand Advocate, Nokia, who highlighted the significance of focus, continuous learning, and skill development in today’s dynamic professional landscape. Emphasising the emergence of the skill-based economy, he encouraged students to complement their academic knowledge with technical expertise, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
He also shared valuable insights into the rapid transformation of industries, stressing the importance of multidisciplinary learning, adaptability, and staying up-to-date of emerging technologies. Citing Nokia’s evolution from a mobile handset manufacturer to a global leader in telecommunications, AI, and digital infrastructure, he encouraged students to cultivate industry awareness and continuously upskill to remain relevant in an evolving global workforce.
Concluding his address, Shri R. Thirukumaran encouraged the students to make purposeful use of their university years by embracing lifelong learning, strengthening their competencies, and positioning themselves for success in the ever-evolving professional landscape.

The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr. A. Suphalakshmi, Dean, Faculty of Engineering & Technology (FET), who expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Guest, Shri R. Thirukumaran, for his inspiring address, and to the Honourable Chancellor, Pro-Chancellors, Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, Deans, faculty members, staff, parents, and all those whose dedicated efforts contributed to the grand success of the Induction Day Celebration.
