The event featured inspiring addresses introducing students to campus life and encouraging continuous learning, reflecting the university’s commitment to their engineering education and professional growth.

Cultural Inauguration and Ceremonial Lamp Lighting:

The Induction Day Celebration commenced with a graceful classical dance performance by a student of Takshashila University, reflecting India’s rich cultural heritage and creating an auspicious beginning to the event. This was followed by the traditional ceremonial lamp lighting by the dignitaries, formally commencing the celebrations and symbolising the beginning of a new chapter for the students.

Welcome Address:

The Welcome Address was delivered by Dr. A. Suphalakshmi, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology. She welcomed the gathering on the occasion of the Induction Day of the fifth batch of B.Tech first-year students, and emphasised that choosing Takshashila University marks the beginning of a rewarding academic journey shaped by the institution’s legacy of excellence, vibrant campus life, and supportive community. She extended a warm welcome to Chief Guest Shri. Krishna Balagurunathan, Honourable Chancellor, Honourable Pro-Chancellor, Honourable Vice-Chancellor, Honourable Registrar, Deans, faculty, parents, and students. She welcomed students into the Takshashila University family, encouraging them to explore opportunities beyond academics while embracing diversity, inclusivity, and mutual respect, and wished them a rewarding, transformative learning experience.

Felicitation Address:

The Felicitation Address was delivered by Honourable Registrar Dr. S. Senthil, who welcomed the Chief Guest, the Honourable Chancellor, Honourable Pro-Chancellor, Honourable Vice-Chancellor, Deans, faculty, parents, and students. He highlighted the university’s growth since its establishment in 2022, its expansion across multiple schools and its current strength of over 7,500+ students.

Addressing the newly admitted students, he outlined a structured roadmap for their four-year academic journey, emphasizing a strong foundation in the first year, proficiency in a programming language in the second year, hands-on project work, internships, and hackathon participation in the third year, and focused placement training in the final year. He emphasised the importance of communication skills, encouraging students to strengthen their English through daily reading, watching the news and consistent practice.

He concluded his address with a quote by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam: “Confidence and hard work are the best medicine to kill the disease called failure. They will make you a successful person.“ He encouraged students to embody this spirit of perseverance and self-belief throughout their academic journey.

Following this, the Felicitation Address was delivered by Honourable Vice-Chancellor Dr. Vivek Inder Kochhar, who welcomed the dignitaries, Chief Guest, faculty members, parents, and newly admitted students. He noted the significance of the day, coinciding with Vishwakarma Jayanti, the Prime Minister’s birthday, and the students’ own first day at university, marking a convergence of three “creators’ days” and a truly auspicious occasion. Reflecting on the students’ transition from school to higher education, he used the metaphor of a “tested paper” to illustrate personal growth, comparing untested students to a plain sheet that easily bends, and explaining that the challenges of the next four years, including examinations, assignments, hackathons, and projects, would strengthen and prepare them to face future demands with resilience. He encouraged students to attend classes regularly, engage actively with faculty, and embrace both academic and extracurricular opportunities such as sports and club activities to develop holistically.

He also spoke on the value of privacy and awareness in the digital age, cautioning students that personal data is often used by technology platforms in exchange for free services. Reminding students that their education represents a significant investment by their parents, he urged them to make the most of their four years through curiosity, discipline, and full engagement in their learning journey, concluding with wishes for a memorable and fulfilling university experience.

Special Address:

The Special Address was delivered by Honourable Pro-Chancellor Dr. D. Nila Priyadharshini. She welcomed the Chief Guest, esteemed dignitaries, parents, and students, and she encouraged the gathering to embrace the day with positivity and enthusiasm.

She reminded students that while receiving the degree marks the destination, the four years of college life represent the true journey that would shape each of them through unique experiences and stories. She outlined three essential qualities for students to carry through this journey. The first was curiosity, encouraging them to keep questioning and learning beyond the syllabus, drawing on the example of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s early fascination with flight. The second was courage, encouraging them to participate and try new things without fear of failure, citing Steve Jobs’ journey through setback and eventual success at Apple. The third was people, encouraging students to build meaningful relationships with peers, seniors, and faculty, and to leverage the university’s interdisciplinary learning environment.

She encouraged students to embrace both academic dedication and personal enjoyment during their time at the university, noting that this period of their lives, free of major responsibilities, was precious and would not return. She concluded by welcoming the students to Takshashila University and wishing them a fulfilling journey ahead.

Presidential address:

The Presidential Address was delivered by Honourable Chancellor Shri. M. Dhanasekaran, who highlighted the significance of the day, coinciding with the Madurai Meenakshi Amman Kumbhabhishekam. He thanked the students and parents for choosing Takshashila University over the many options available to them, and assured the gathering that the institution would strive to fulfil the expectations of every student over the course of their four-year journey.

Addressing the evolving nature of the job market, he spoke on the growing role of artificial intelligence and automation in transforming industries, stressing that mediocrity would no longer suffice and that students must aim to build expertise, creativity, and adaptability to remain competitive. He outlined several upcoming initiatives at the university, including AI-based attendance and learning platforms, and forthcoming facilities dedicated to drone technology, robotics, satellite research, biotechnology, and a startup incubation centre — all aimed at fostering practical, industry-relevant skills alongside academic learning.

He encouraged students to embrace self-learning and interdisciplinary collaboration, set clear goals, and stay focused and disciplined, avoiding distractions such as excessive social media use. He concluded by wishing students success, encouraging them to seek their parents’ blessings and pursue excellence with dedication.

Chief guest address:

Chief Guest, Shri. Krishna Balagurunathan, Chief Mentor & Head – Early Careers at Hexaware, Chennai, delivered an inspiring address, describing his experience at the event as deeply meaningful and praising the vision and warmth of the university’s leadership. His address  began by encouraging students to express gratitude to their parents, teachers, and the institution for shaping their journey, and emphasised the importance of choosing the right friends, as one’s habits and character are often shaped by the people around them.

He described the next four years as the most important phase of their lives, encouraging students to take ownership of their goals rather than depend on others. He outlined three keys to success — technical skills, communication, and a positive attitude, noting that while skills can be taught quickly, the right mindset takes sustained effort. Drawing from his own journey from an average student to a corporate leader, he encouraged students to grab opportunities and participate actively rather than remain spectators. He also spoke on mental well-being, cautioning against distractions and encouraged students to find joy in everyday life. He concluded by wishing the batch of 2026 success and happiness.

Vote of Thanks:

The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr.P. Mangayarkarasi, School In-Charge, School of Core Engineering. She thanked Chief Guest Shri. Krishna Balagurunathan for his valuable address, and acknowledged Honourable Chancellor Shri. M. Dhanasekaran, Honourable Pro-Chancellor, Honourable Vice-Chancellor, Respected Registrar, and the Deans for their guidance in organising the event. She also thanked faculty, coordinators, student volunteers, and non-teaching staff for their support, along with the parents for their trust in the university. She concluded by welcoming the new students and wishing everyone a memorable journey ahead.
