Introduction:
Takshashila University successfully conducted Induction Day 2026 for the School of Computer Science on 29 July 2026 at the Multipurpose Hall, Takshashila University, Tindivanam. The programme marked the beginning of an exciting academic journey for the newly admitted students, warmly welcoming them into the University’s dynamic learning environment and innovation-driven academic community.
The event was held in the esteemed presence of Honourable Chancellor Shri M. Dhanasekaran, Honourable Pro-Chancellors Shri D. Rajarajan and Dr. D. Nila Priyadharshini, Honourable Vice-Chancellor Dr. Vivek Inder Kochhar, and Honourable Registrar Dr. S. Senthil, along with the Deans, Heads of Departments, faculty members, and students. The event was further honoured by the presence of Chief Guest Dr. Suceendran K. M., Head – Academic Alliances Group, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).
Cultural Programme and Lighting of the Ceremonial Lamp:
The Induction Day Celebration 2026 began with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries, symbolising knowledge, wisdom, new beginnings, and reinforcing Takshashila University’s commitment to academic excellence and holistic development. This was followed by a graceful classical welcome dance performed by the students of the university, showcasing India’s rich cultural heritage and lending a dignified, auspicious note to the celebrations.
Felicitation Address:
The Felicitation Address was delivered by Honourable Registrar, Dr. S. Senthil, who warmly welcomed the Honourable Chancellor, Honourable Pro-Chancellors, Honourable Vice-Chancellor, esteemed Chief Guest, Deans, Heads of Departments, faculty members, parents, and students. Highlighting the University’s remarkable growth, he noted that Takshashila University has emerged as one of the region’s leading institutions, with a student community of over 7,500. He further shared that the Faculties of Sciences, Humanities & Social Sciences, and Management& Commerce, along with the School of Computer Science, have collectively welcomed 850 first-year students for the current academic year, reflecting the University’s continued growth and academic excellence. Addressing the new students, he emphasized that their journey at Takshashila University marks the beginning of a future filled with opportunities. He encouraged them to pursue their aspirations with confidence, whether in the private sector, government services, higher education and research, or entrepreneurship, assuring them that the University provides comprehensive academic support, industry exposure, placement training, competitive examination coaching, and an innovation-driven ecosystem to help them achieve their career goals.He concluded his address with the inspiring words of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam: “You cannot change your future, but you can change your habits”.
Following this, the felicitation Address was delivered by Honourable Vice-Chancellor Dr. Vivek Inder Kochhar, who welcomed the dignitaries, faculty members and newly enrolled students. Referring to the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima, he underscored its significance as a meaningful beginning to the students’ academic journey under the guidance of their teachers. He noted that while school prepares students for college, higher education prepares them for life, and advised students to improve communication, leadership, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills together with academic excellence. Highlighting the University’s seminars, assessments, and industry-oriented training, he expressed confidence that students would emerge as competent, ethical, and socially responsible professionals.
Special Address:
The special address was delivered by Honourable Pro-Chancellor, Shri D. Rajarajan, addressed the gathering by highlighting the approach required for students to succeed in the rapidly evolving world of technology. While acknowledging the opportunities available in the digital era, he emphasized that students should focus not only on acquiring technical knowledge but also on developing the right approach towards innovation and lifelong learning. He encouraged them to embrace three guiding principles: move from being consumers to creators by solving real-world problems through innovation, move from typing to thinking by developing logical reasoning and problem-solving skills beyond coding and move from be afraid of Artificial Intelligence to using it to build and innovate, leveraging AI as a tool to enhance creativity and productivity. He concluded by encouraging the students to remain curious, think critically, and make the most of the opportunities at Takshashila University to become skilled, innovative, and future-ready professionals.
Following this, the special address was delivered by Honourable Pro-Chancellor Dr. D. Nila Priyadharshini, who warmly welcomed the newly admitted students to Takshashila University. Describing their first day as the beginning of a transformative academic journey, she encouraged students to embrace continuous learning, develop essential skills, and pursue holistic personal and professional growth through active engagement in academic, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities.
She outlined five guiding principles for success, Learn, Build, Connect, Adapt, and Create, emphasising knowledge beyond the classroom, confidence through discipline, meaningful relationships through effective communication, adaptability to emerging technologies, and innovative problem-solving through creativity and critical thinking. Concluding her address, she encouraged students to approach their academic journey with curiosity, commitment, adaptability, and integrity, and to make full use of the University’s academic ecosystem, mentorship, and learning resources to evolve into competent, ethical, and future-ready professionals.
Presidential address:
The Presidential Address was delivered by Honourable Chancellor Shri M. Dhanasekaran, who extended his heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Guest, dignitaries, faculty members, parents, and students, describing the first day of college as a significant milestone. Referring to the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima, he encouraged the students to begin their academic journey with purpose, discipline, and a commitment to lifelong learning. He emphasized that success is built on consistent preparation, perseverance, and continuous improvement. Sharing Takshashila University’s vision, he highlighted the institution’s focus on student-centric learning, personalised mentoring, continuous assessment, and the integration of Artificial Intelligence to develop future-ready graduates with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Concluding his address, Honourable Chancellor Shri M. Dhanasekaran motivated students to dream big and pursue excellence with determination, reminding them that education shapes character and society. Acknowledging parents’ sacrifices, he expressed confidence their achievements would bring pride to their families and the nation.
Chief Guest Introduction:
The Chief Guest was formally introduced by Dr. K. Venkataramanan, School In-charge, Faculty of Science (FSC), who highlighted Dr. Suceendran K. M.’s distinguished career of over 29 years with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in leadership roles across Human Resources, Workforce Management, and Staffing. He noted Dr. Suceendran’s efforts in strengthening industry–academia collaboration, enhancing student employability, and mentoring students and faculty, along with his contributions to Artificial Intelligence research, innovation, and patents, as well as his role as Managing Trustee of Sharing Tree, an NGO supporting deserving and underprivileged students. He concluded by expressing confidence that Dr. Suceendran’s insights would inspire students toward academic and professional excellence.
Chief Guest Address:
The Chief Guest, Dr. Suceendran K. M., delivered an inspiring address in which he emphasized the transformative power of education, underscoring that perseverance, continuous learning, and self-improvement are essential to achieving long-term personal and professional success.
He highlighted the importance of developing strong reading and communication skills, gaining practical experience through project-based learning, and building a professional portfolio using platforms such as LinkedIn and GitHub. He also encouraged students to make productive use of emerging technologies and leverage Artificial Intelligence to enhance creativity, innovation, and problem-solving abilities.
Concluding his address, Dr. Suceendran K. M., advised students to strengthen their technical knowledge, communication skills, and professional values, wishing them, on the occasion of Guru Purnima, a successful journey toward becoming competent, ethical, and globally employable professionals.
Vote of Thanks:
The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr. S. Deepa, Dean, Faculty of Science (FSC), who expressed sincere gratitude to all who contributed to making Induction Day a memorable success. She thanked the Honourable Chancellor, Shri M. Dhanasekaran, for his visionary leadership in building Takshashila University into a centre of excellence, and the Chief Guest, Dr. Suceendran K. M., for his inspiring address. She further acknowledged the Pro-Chancellors, Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, Deans, Heads of Departments, Placement Officer, Controller of Examinations, School In-charges, faculty, and administrative staff for their efforts in organising the event, along with parents for their trust and students for their enthusiastic participation. She concluded with Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s words “Dream, dream, dream. Dreams transform into thoughts and thoughts result in action”, she wished the students a successful and fulfilling academic journey ahead.
