Introduction:

Takshashila University organised its Induction Day on 29 September to welcome newly admitted students from Agricultural Sciences and Postgraduate programmes. The programme introduced them to the university’s academic environment, learning pathways and support services.

Welcome to University Life – Embracing New Experiences:

The programme began with the Tamil Thai Vazhthu, setting a graceful and traditional tone for the day. The new students were then welcomed with handmade mementos, a thoughtful gesture that reflected the warmth of the university community.

Deans’ Insights – Inspiring Academic Excellence:

The students were addressed by the Deans, who shared guidance as they begin their academic life. They highlighted that university education extends beyond individual disciplines, offering opportunities to engage with diverse departments and perspectives. Students were encouraged to approach their studies with curiosity and commitment, and to develop the habit of independent learning by exploring knowledge beyond the prescribed syllabus.
The Deans encouraged postgraduate students to deliver guest lectures for juniors with faculty guidance, strengthening their communication, leadership, and teaching skills. They also shared insights on the growing role of Artificial Intelligence across disciplines; they encouraged students to build awareness of AI tools and use them responsibly. They reminded everyone that earning a degree is not the end goal, but the foundation for a meaningful professional and personal journey.

Felicitation Address:

The felicitation address was delivered by the Honourable Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Vivek Inder Kochhar, who welcomed the students and highlighted the importance of holistic development beyond academics. He informed the wide range of sports activities and student clubs available at the university, encouraging students to actively participate in extracurricular activities, discover their interests and develop skills beyond the classroom.
He emphasised that participation in sports and clubs can help students build teamwork, leadership, confidence and communication skills, making university life more enriching and meaningful.

Special Address:

3 Induction Day for Agricultural

The special address was delivered by Honourable Pro-Chancellor Dr. Nila Priya Dharshini, who welcomed the new students and noted that their first day at the university marks the beginning of an important academic chapter. She encouraged them to make the occasion memorable and to embrace campus life with enthusiasm. She advised the students to apply their skills effectively and to take part in the programmes and activities organised by the university, emphasising that making full use of these opportunities would contribute significantly to their personal and professional growth.

The programme allowed students to learn from the guidance of the university leadership and to interact with the faculty, helping them become familiar with the academic community they have joined.
