Takshashila University was established in Ongur, Tamil Nadu, as a State Private University with a vision to revive the spirit of the ancient Takshashila and create a multidisciplinary learning environment for future leaders. The university came into force on 27 May 2022.
The university was founded to bring diverse disciplines together under one campus, enabling students to pursue programmes across engineering, sciences, healthcare, management, humanities, and emerging fields of study.
With modern classrooms, laboratories, research facilities, industry collaborations, and experiential learning opportunities, the university strengthened its academic ecosystem to support holistic student development.
Academic programmes across healthcare and professional disciplines continued to strengthen through approvals and compliance with statutory bodies, including the Pharmacy Council of India and other relevant regulatory authorities.
Takshashila University was included under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, reinforcing its position within India's recognised higher education framework and further strengthening the value of its academic programmes.
Today, Takshashila University continues to advance its mission through multidisciplinary education, research-driven learning, industry engagement, innovation, and global academic perspectives, preparing students for successful careers and meaningful contributions to society.
