The programme brought together the University leadership, dignitaries, faculty members, parents, and students, and encouraged the aspiring doctors to pursue medical education with dedication, discipline, compassion, and a commitment to excellence in healthcare.
Lighting of the Ceremonial Lamp and Cultural Performance:

The programme began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries, symbolising knowledge and wisdom. The event was further brightened by cultural performances from second-year MBBS students, adding vibrancy to the occasion and extending a warm welcome to the new batch.
Welcome Address:

The welcome address was delivered by Dr. C. Prasath, Medical Superintendent of Takshashila Medical College and Hospital, who warmly greeted the dignitaries, faculty members, parents, and newly admitted students. He noted the institution’s growth from its first batch of 100 students to a second batch of 200, and acknowledged the support of the leadership, the faculty’s commitment, and the parents’ sacrifices.
Addressing the students, he emphasised that medical education goes beyond examinations and degrees, involving clinical knowledge, empathy, discipline, and respect for human life. He concluded by wishing the new batch a meaningful and successful journey.
Felicitation Address:

The felicitation address was delivered by Honourable Registrar Dr. S. Senthil, who welcomed the dignitaries, faculty members, parents, and newly admitted MBBS students. He highlighted Takshashila University’s remarkable growth over the years, and acknowledged the Chancellor’s vision and leadership.
He encouraged the first-year students to approach their studies with dedication and discipline. They were motivated to aim for 90% in their academics, as consistent preparation leads to success in university examinations.
The address focused on the present, the future, and lifelong responsibility as three key aspects of a medical student’s journey. He encouraged a service-oriented approach to healthcare that makes treatment accessible and compassionate. He also highlighted the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in medicine and encouraged students to build AI-related skills alongside medical knowledge.
Concluding his address, he encouraged students to set clear goals, work hard, and build self-confidence, sharing the motivational words of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, “Hard work and self-confidence are the best medicine to kill the disease called failure.” He wished the students success in their academic journey.

Continuing the programme, Honourable Vice-Chancellor Dr. Vivek Inder Kochhar greeted the dignitaries, faculty members, parents, and newly admitted MBBS students. He described six as a significant number for Takshashila, since the University began in 2022 with 66 students and the programme date also adds up to six, and linked the occasion to Article 51A(j) of the Constitution, the fundamental duty to strive for excellence.
Recalling his experience during COVID-19, he shared how his father’s stethoscope helped him distribute sanitiser to frontline workers and the public, highlighting the respect and responsibility associated with the medical profession. He spoke on three principles for aspiring doctors, namely time, practice, and remembrance.
Students were encouraged to value punctuality, as even a few minutes can make a significant difference in healthcare. Consistent practice, particularly of clinical skills and procedures such as CPR, builds competence and patient confidence. Remembrance, shaped by meaningful experiences and a genuine commitment to medicine, helps doctors make good clinical decisions.
Concluding his address, he encouraged students to build friendships, cultivate a habit of reading, and approach faculty members freely with their questions. Reminding them that they would represent Takshashila University even after graduation, he hoped they would become compassionate, competent, and responsible doctors, and to use their years at the University wisely in pursuit of their dreams.

The special address was delivered by Honourable Pro-Chancellor Shri D. Rajarajan, who highlighted the rapid growth of emerging technologies, particularly AI, and their potential to transform healthcare in the coming decades.
