Introduction:

The School of Management Studies, Takshashila University, organized Mind to Market 2.0 – Startup Pitch Competition on 10 August 2026, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, at the Multipurpose Hall. The event gave aspiring student entrepreneurs a platform to present their business ideas and test their market potential. Bringing together academic and startup-ecosystem perspectives, the programme encouraged students to think beyond ideas toward feasibility and real-world execution.
Objectives of the Startup Pitch Competition :
Mind to Market 2.0 aimed to nurture innovative thinking, strengthen pitching and communication skills, and expose students to the startup and MSME landscape directly. It gave participants a chance to develop market-driven ideas and gain hands-on experience turning a concept into a business pitch.
Inauguration and Opening Session:

The programme began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries, marking the formal inauguration of the event. This was followed by a welcome address setting the context for the event, encouraging students to transform ideas into meaningful business opportunities and build an entrepreneurial mindset. The opening session also featured a Special Address by Dr. A. Suphalakshmi, Dean, Faculty of Management and Commerce, highlighting the role of management education in identifying business opportunities, understanding market needs, and making sound decisions.
Expert Insights on Entrepreneurship and Innovation :

The Chief Guest Address was delivered by Dr. G. Seenuvasan, District Program Manager, Entrepreneurship Development and Innovation Institute (EDII), Department of MSME, Government of Tamil Nadu, Villupuram District. In his address, he spoke on entrepreneurship development and the opportunities available within the MSME sector. He highlighted the importance of identifying viable business opportunities, navigating the startup ecosystem, and building ventures with long-term sustainability.

Following the Chief Guest Address, Mr. Senthamil Arasan, Project Lead, Tamil Nadu Startup and Innovation Mission, addressed the gathering and shared valuable insights into the evolving startup ecosystem and emerging entrepreneurial opportunities. He encouraged students to identify contemporary challenges and develop innovative, sustainable business solutions that address real-world needs. His address inspired participants to adopt a forward-looking entrepreneurial mindset and explore opportunities with creativity, responsibility, and a long-term vision.
Business Pitching: From Idea to Market:

Mind to Market 2.0 – Startup Pitch Competition was open to undergraduate students from all academic streams, encouraging interdisciplinary participation and collaborative learning. Students participated in teams of up to five members, enabling them to integrate diverse skills, knowledge, and perspectives to develop innovative solutions and effective business strategies.
A total of 18 teams took part in the pitching session, presenting a wide range of business ideas across sectors. Students showcased their concepts with a focus on value proposition, target audience, feasibility, and growth potential, demonstrating their ability to communicate a business idea clearly and persuasively. The session gave participants practical experience of pitching in a professional, competitive environment. The top-performing teams were recognised for their innovative ideas and effective presentations.
Learning Outcomes and Entrepreneurial Impact :

Mind to Market 2.0 brought together expert insight, student-led ideas, and hands-on pitching experience within a unified platform. It gave students a chance to apply classroom learning to a real business context, and encouraged participants to approach opportunities with more confidence, strategic thinking, and a clearer understanding of business viability.
