Takshashila University observed World Breastfeeding Week 2026 with an engaging celebration organised by the Department of Community Medicine on 12 August 2026 at Lecture Hall-1. The programme focused on the theme “Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen What Works,” creating a meaningful platform to promote health awareness through creativity and student participation. The celebration featured two flagship activities, a Poster Competition and a Rangoli Competition, through which students explored the theme through creative visual expressions. The activities provided an interactive platform to communicate important messages on breastfeeding while fostering creativity, teamwork and effective presentation.
Beyond artistic expression, the programme encouraged students to engage with the significance of breastfeeding in maternal and child health and provided opportunities to strengthen collaborative and communication skills. By connecting creative participation with a relevant public-health theme, the initiative promoted a meaningful approach to health education and awareness.

The celebration commenced with the flag hoisting by Honourable Pro-Chancellor Dr. D. Nila Priyadharshini, followed by the National Anthem and Tamil Thaivazhthu. Takshashila University observed World Organ Donation Day on 13 August 2026 with an awareness programme held at the Multipurpose Hall. The event brought together students and faculty to explore the importance of organ donation, the donation process, and common misconceptions surrounding the cause.
The programme featured addresses by distinguished medical experts. Dr. Azhaguparvathi A, Senior Resident, and Dr. Divya Bharathy R, Assistant Professor, Department of Community Medicine, TMCH, addressed on the public health and social significance of organ donation, while Dr. Manoj K, Senior Resident, Department of Anaesthesiology, TMCH, addressed the medical process and the critical importance of timely donation. Their insights highlighted the medical, ethical, and social dimensions of organ donation and its power to save lives.
Students participated actively through interactive discussions, reflecting on ways to promote awareness within their communities. This initiative further highlighted the university’s role in fostering empathy, responsibility, and active social engagement among its students.
Takshashila University’s School of Management Studies successfully conducted “Mind to Market 2.0,” a startup pitch competition, on 10 August 2026, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, at the Multipurpose Hall. A total of 18 teams, formed of undergraduate students from various academic streams, pitched business ideas covering value proposition, feasibility, and growth potential. Chief Guest Dr. G. Seenuvasan, EDII, Department of MSME, Government of Tamil Nadu, Villupuram District, and Chief Guest Mr. Senthamil Arasan, Project Lead, Tamil Nadu Startup and Innovation Mission, addressed participants on entrepreneurship and startup landscape. The top-performing teams were recognised for their ideas and presentations. The event reflects the university’s continued focus on entrepreneurial learning among students.
