About the Course
The Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Agriculture – Agricultural Economics is a specialized postgraduate course designed to equip students with advanced knowledge and analytical skills for understanding the economic aspects of agriculture, agribusiness, and rural development. This program integrates economic theory, quantitative analysis, and policy evaluation to prepare graduates for decision-making in the agricultural sector.
The course focuses on analyzing the production, distribution, and consumption of agricultural goods and services, examining factors that influence farm income, resource allocation, and market behavior. Students learn to evaluate economic efficiency, cost–benefit relationships, risk management, and price fluctuations in agricultural markets.
SCOPE OF THE PROGRAMME
Graduates can pursue careers in agro-based business sectors such as seeds, fertilizer, chemicals, farm machinery for agriculture, and processing food. and also employed in research centers, agro clinics, weather and price forecasting. They can also become entrepreneurs in agriculture.

PEO1: Preparation
- To teach students the fundamentals of agriculture and aid them in applying that knowledge to solve issues in a scientific and cost-effective manner.
PEO2: Core Competence
- To develop reasoning skills by understanding the fundamentals of agriculture, as well as to evaluate practical problems in crop production, processing, storage, and marketing, and to make appropriate decisions based on technical and scientific knowledge gained during education when solving any practical agriculture problem. Understand the scientific aspects of agriculture and apply diverse technologies in crop enhancement research and new technology development.
PEO-3: Professionalism
- Acquire knowledge and develop oneself as a successful and active agricultural expert on a local and worldwide scale. To pursue lifelong learning by participating in post-graduate research programs and using the knowledge to advance in teaching, research, and practical agriculture.

- To provide various types of training and field demonstrations to instill skills such as linguistic competence, technical communication, analytical capacity, and research planning in various disciplines of agriculture, both in the laboratory and on the field. - To use the ethical and social aspects of modern agricultural technologies through the use of diverse instruments such as genetic engineering, data gathering and processing, and their application to increase agricultural production with the goal of turning farming into a commercial endeavor.

To apply for the B.Sc. in Biotechnology, you must meet the following requirements:
- Academic Qualification: Eligibility for Admission A candidate who has passed the higher secondary examination in any one of the biological sciences (botany/zoology, biology). (Academic/Vocational stream Agri, Home Science, Poultry) under the higher secondary board of examination, Tamil Nadu.
- Minimum Marks: You need to have at least 50% marks in your qualifying exam.
