Introduction :

The School of Allied Health Sciences, successfully organized a First Aid Management Awareness Program on 11 February 2026 at Montfort Matriculation Higher Secondary School. Tindivanam. The initiative aimed to educate school students on basic first aid techniques, emergency response, and safety awareness, empowering them to act confidently during medical emergencies.

This community outreach program reflects the university’s commitment to preventive healthcare education, school health initiatives, and community engagement.

Objective of the First Aid Awarness :

The primary objective of the program was to:

>>Improve students’ knowledge of first aid management
>>Promote early recognition of medical emergencies
>>Educate students on immediate response techniques
>>Emphasize do’s and don’ts during emergency situations
>>Encourage timely medical intervention to prevent complications The session focused on common emergencies such as:

  • Snake bite first aid
  • Dog bite management
  • Syncope (fainting) management
  • Fracture first aid care

More than 230+ school students actively participated in the awareness program.

Hands – on Learning Approches Adopted :

A structured PowerPoint presentation was used to explain first aid concepts clearly and systematically. The slides included:

>>Causes and warning signs of emergencies
>>Step-by-step first aid procedures
>>Visual flowcharts and diagramsReal-life examples
>>Key safety messages

The visual approach enhanced student engagement and simplified complex medical concepts.

2>Chart Presentation

Chart presentations displayed:

  • First aid flowcharts
    • Emergency response steps
    • Do’s and don’ts in critical situations

Colourful diagrams and illustrations improved understanding and helped students retain essential information.

3>Role Play Demonstrations

Role play sessions were conducted by Physician Assistant students (2nd & 3rd Year), who demonstrated real-life emergency scenarios. This practical approach:

  • Showed correct first aid techniques
  • Highlighted common mistakes
  • Encouraged student participation
  • Made learning interactive and memorable

Role play significantly increased student confidence in handling emergency situations.

4>Awareness Talk & Interactive Session

An engaging awareness talk was delivered to educate students about the importance of first aid knowledge in daily life. The interactive session allowed students to:

  • Clarify doubts
  • Discuss misconceptions
  • Share experiences
  • Ask questions related to emergency care
